Dear Colleagues,

We're very happy to announce that another exciting Going Green project cycle has come to an end and just before the summer holidays we're introducing this year's school competition winners in this newsletter. 

In addition, this newsletter includes information on our project evaluation survey for teachers and students and a final call to participate in our joint Sommerfest with Humboldt Universität in Berlin on August 29.

This has been an eventful year for us once again. We've seen some of the usual suspects and many new faces at our teacher trainings across the nation and on our Moodle platform as well. The Team at Teach About U.S. and our partners in Germany and the U.S. would like to extent a heartfelt 'thank you' to all of you for your coninued support and engagement with our school projects. 

As this school year is coming to an end, we're already focused on what lies ahead: We will continue our various sustainability projects next school year and as the race for the White House is slowly gaining traction, we too are preparing for another School Election Project, so stay tuned. Until then, we wish you a relaxing and inspiring summer break and we all look forward to working with you again in the new school year.

GOING GREEN 2018/19
AND THE WINNERS ARE...

The fifth cycle of the Going Green project is coming to an end and we are proud to present the winners of our annual student competition. We received very thoughtful project outcomes dealing with a variety of topics linked to sustainability. All in all, 18 courses from four Bundesländer and one U.S. state registered on our platform. Over three hundred students and their teachers spent many weeks learning about sustainable activities as well as challenges in Germany and the U.S., finding out about sustainability topics such as waste, food, transport, and fashion. They analyzed how their own behavior impacts the sensitive system of our planet and developed different projects to go greener.

The Teach About U.S. team and our partners are delighted to announce the following student projects as winners of the Going Green 2019 Awards! Congratulations to all students and teachers!

FINAL CALL TO PARTICIPATE
HU BERLIN SOMMERFEST (AUG. 29, 2019)

As announced in our previous newsletter, Going Green will be a guest at Humboldt University's Sommerfest on August 29, 2019, 14-15:30h. During the event, student groups will have the opportunity to report about their experiences with the project in a casual atmosphere and discuss their action plans with peers and experts on sustainability. Prof. Marcel Robischon, Humboldt University, will moderate the session, and Prof. Torben Schmidt, Leuphana University, a member of the Teach About U.S. team, will give a brief introduction.

Going Green participants will be able to discuss their project experiences and action plans informally with experts and other participants. 

If you would like to participate in the event, please register with Joannis Kaliampos (joannis.kaliampos@leuphana.de) this week and suggest how many students you would like to bring. 

Unfortunately, Teach About U.S. cannot cover travel expenses for this event.
