Dear Colleagues,
This is our final update for U.S. Election Project participants. Without further ado, let's turn to the important contents regarding your participation in the student contest and concluding project events.
Mock election and student competition
- All registered classes are called to participate in the mock election and student competition.
- Only one prediction and competiton entry per course. Nominate one course representative to cast your state's vote in the Virtual Town Hall (Database ‘Ballot Box & Competition’).
- Deadline is this Sunday (October 30) at midnight (Berlin time). Entries can be edited until this deadline and only by the user who uploaded it.
- Find more details on this in your course in section 4 “Our state”.
Please note that even if your class cannot participate in the student competition, it is important that you still submit a prediction of your state's vote. This is important for us and other participants as we do want to produce a complete mock election for the U.S. including your input.
Transatlantic Cooperation Award
As announced in our recent email, Teach About US would like to recognize those of you who are making extraordinary efforts to engage their students in German-American exchanges and thereby enhance transatlantic understanding in the school context.
- Colleagues working on the project with a German or U.S. partner are called to apply for the Transatlantic Cooperation Award as part of the election project.
- To participate, fill out the form here on behalf of both cooperating partners and send it back to me (joannis.kaliampos@leuphana.de).
- The deadline is this Sunday, October 30, at midnight (Berlin time).
- If the circumstances allow it, a ‘Meet US’ or U.S. Embassy/Consulate representative will visit the award winners’ school(s) or, if your class happens to be visiting Berlin, a briefing at the U.S. Embassy could be arranged. More information will follow. (Unfortunately, travel expenses cannot be covered.)
Final project events in Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt
As previously announced, we will conclude the election project with final events in different parts of Germany.
Berlin

The Teach About US team and our partners in Germany and the U.S. are lookng forward to your contributions to the student contest and your prediction of the election outcome. In 2008 and 2012, these turned out being more accurate than most election polls in the U.S.! Is this going to be the case again this year? We will know in less than two weeks.
