Teach About US Update // Mar. 23, 2016

Dear *|FNAME|* *|LNAME|*,

In our last newsletter we reminded you of the deadline for submitting your course’s sustainability action plan to our contest by this upcoming Thursday. However, after several inquiries from colleagues, we have now decided to extend the competition deadline until April 3 (midnight). With this, we would like to make your participation a bit less stressful and, once again, we want to encourage you and your students to submit their ideas to this competition. A contribution can also consist of a plan or projection and does not necessarily have to include a ‘ready’ prototype or executed pilot project. It could also be an extension of your students’ eco-challenges on either recycling, food, green cities and mobility, or fashion. It can be presented in the form of a text, poster, song, blog, video, photos, … -- you and your students decide.

Let me stress that it is absolutely in the spirit of our project that we would also like to support plans at the very early stage of their implementation and development. Again, the U.S. Embassy has generously agreed to award monetary prizes to outstanding student contributions in order to support their implementation.

How to submit your course's action plan: One representative of the group has to upload the action plan to the DATABASE: Your sustainability action plan in the Virtual Town Hall. The submission form will also require to include a very short abstract of the project idea, key words, and (if possible) a photo or image to be used along with the action plan. If, for whatever reasons, you cannot submit your action plan through Moodle or experience any technical glitches, please send it to Joannis Kaliampos (Joannis.Kaliampos@leuphana.de) via e-mail.

The Teach About US Team is looking forward to your sustainability action plans and wishes you and your students a joyful Easter Holiday.
Yours,

Joannis Kaliampos
