Teach About US Update // Mar. 17, 2016

Dear Subscriber,

We're looking forward to the conclusion of this year's Going Green project with some promising student action plans for greening your schools and communities. These past few months have been very exciting for us and we're seeing great ideas and projects blooming in different parts of the country. The Teach About US Team and our partners would like to encourage all of you who are currently involved in the Going Green project to submit your idea or concept for sustainable development and we want to stress that we will accept all types of project ideas, big or small!

We would also like to thank you for your continuing support and interest in our school projects, classroom materials, and teacher training seminars -- and let us also welcome all new members to this community who have recently participated in one of our events.

Do you have any suggestions or feedback for us? Wait not, contact us directly -- we're happy to hear from you. With this, we'd like to wish you a joyful Easter Holiday and a bright and warm spring season!

Only one week to go: Submit your green action plans for the Going Green competition

With the end of this year's Going Green project cycle in sight, only a few more days remain for you and your students to participate in our competition for green action plans. While some courses have begun uploading their action plans to the Virtual Town Hall, others are in the last, very busy phase of polishing their project ideas.

The deadline for all student projects is March 24, at midnight.

A word of encouragement to you and your students: Some groups have told us that they are afraid their project will not be "done" by the deadline and therefore are thinking not to participate. Let us assure you that it is in the spirit of Going Green that all student projects should be recognized in this contest. In fact, in 2014, we awarded prizes to action plans in various stages of their development, from already tested prototypes to more abstract ideas and plans. So, our message to you and your students is: Please do participate! We certainly look forward to ALL contributions, big or small!

How to submit your course's action plan:
One representative of the group has to upload the action plan to the DATABASE: Your sustainability action plan in the Virtual Town Hall. The submission form will also require to include a very short abstract of the project idea, key words, and (if possible) a photo or image to be used along with the action plan. If, for whatever reasons, you cannot submit your action plan through Moodle or experience any technical glitches, please send it to Joannis Kaliampos ( via e-mail.

Upcoming final events for Going Green: Register with your students

As announced in our previous newsletter, we will, together with our partners, organize regional Going Green final events in April. If you and your students have not yet registered for these events, please do so ASAP - even if you might not be able to present an action plan!
