Newsletter Summer 2023

Dear teachers,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and brimming with enthusiasm for the upcoming school year. I am delighted to share some news that will undoubtedly ignite your passion for teaching and empower your students as responsible global citizens.

I am thrilled to invite you to participate in the next edition of the renowned “Going Green – Education for Sustainability” school project, which is our most exciting and impactful course yet! It allows you to delve into the fascinating world of sustainability in your English as a Foreign Language classroom. In this rapidly changing world, it is more crucial than ever to raise awareness about environmental responsibility and civic engagement in a transatlantic German-American exchange, and this course is specifically designed to equip you with the tools to achieve just that! The course is designed to equip you with the necessary tools, knowledge and skills to cultivate sustainability topics, inspire civic engagement among your students and develop their English and transcultural skills. What sets this edition of Going Green apart is the addition of three brand-new modules, each exploring different aspects of sustainability:

In a bittersweet note, I would like to share a personal announcement. Funding from the U.S. Embassy Berlin will stop at the end of August and that, unfortunately, means that my position as project manager will also stop there as well. It has been an incredible journey, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the project development and management. It has been an absolute pleasure collaborating with such remarkable people and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the teachers and colleagues who have made this journey unforgettable.

Please rest assured that the Going Green course would continue to flourish even after my departure. While someone else will take the reins, the course’s commitment to providing outstanding resources and fostering a transatlantic community of educators dedicated to sustainability education will remain unwavering.

As I bid you farewell, I want to extend a sincere invitation to sign up for the next Going Green cycle. Please take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to equip yourself with new teaching materials, gain access to invaluable resources and join a vibrant community of teachers.
